If you love mountains and are looking for a race with a lot of climbing, incredible scenery and a great atmosphere, then I highly recommend ETR. With the high altitude and a total elevation change of 25,000m, this is one of the toughest multi stage races out there.
So make sure you train appropriately or you will really struggle. Accommodation is in tents or basic lodges and food is provided, which means you only have to carry warm clothes and emergency kit. Numbers are limited for safety reasons, so the atmosphere at camp is fantastic as you get to talk to the other competitors over meals every day.
The Himalayas are an incredible range of mountains and Mount Everest is an iconic backdrop to this race. It’s really tough but it’s also a lot of fun. I had one of the best weeks ever at this event and I have raced over 8 multi stage events.
If you don't want to run a multi-stage race there are many single day races in the region, the important thing is you discover running in the Himalayas!
